Scientists are in the process of trying to create a transmissible vaccine in order to vaccinate animal populations against particularly damaging viruses that often spread to humans. But the approach has faced criticism. Scott Nuismer is a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, and a professor of mathematics at the University of Idaho. He tells us what the benefits are to a contagious vaccine, and responds to concerns about it.
